Listed in De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour. 1911 census shows him residing with his wife and children at Ballyfad. Veteran - Served in South African War. 1st Irish Guards, serving in 2nd Division, were a part of First Battle of the Aisne, France (Sep 13 – Sep 28, 1914).
