Son of Patrick and Mary Anne Foley nee Reid. Husband of Elizabeth Foley nee Graydon, 162 Athol Street, Ascot Vale, Victoria, Australia. They had three children. She was later Mrs Harvey, c/o Post Office, Sandgate Lane, Brisbane, Queensland.
Died between 6th - 9th August. His Australian enlistment papers state he was born in New Ross c.1883 and that his next of kin was Elizabeth Hendrick, Boston, who could not subsequently be located. Previously served as 9702 Gunner with the Royal Garrison Artillery. When he enlisted in 1901 he stated that he had no next of kin. Emigrated to Australia about 1912.

Awarded the Military Medal (AIF routine order No 16 dated 9th April 1918 and promoted to Sergeant) and is listed in the Commonwealth Gazette No 175 dated 7th November 1918.
Originally buried by the Rev, T.A. Campbell at Verloy. Re-interred 6 miles due north of Lillers 13-08-1918 in Thiemmes Military Cemetery.

Son of John and Mary Ann Shannon nee O'Shea. His father was a coffin maker who died while Peter was a young child. In 1888 his mother emigrated to Australia with her four children. Peter worked as a sheep shearer at Merriwa, New South Wales, and enlisted 13 August 1915. He was posted to the 53rd Infantry Battalion in Egypt about February 1916. Moved to France 28 June 1916. Brother of John Joseph Shannon, c/o Mr Marshall, Farm No 732 Leeton, Via Yanco. His body was discovered in 2009 but not identified until 2019.
